The avian orthopedics lab is focused on practical fracture repair and orthopedic injury management in birds. The basic approach to fracture classification to guide prognosis and management for captive birds as well as practical fracture repair techniques for passerines, parrots and larger birds to include multiple techniques for bandaging and splinting of the leg, foot and wing. External fixation of various fractures will be practiced using carcasses of various avian species.
Preparation: Wear scrubs and meet in MD-1 for this lab.
Maximum participants allowed: 12
CE Information: Participants will receive 4.8 CE credits for this Lab.
